Cantigny Springs Ahead
Tulips flaunt their stately heads in Cantigny’s spring gardens as a harbinger of the transformations to come. The nationally celebrated historic haven located on 500 acres at the heart of DuPage County is entering the second year of a five-year renovation plan.
Last fall, Project New Leaf saw the re-opening of the popular First Division Museum and Tank Park, but as summer approaches, it’s all about the gardens. Dramatic landscape rejuvenation by Sasaki Associates, the award-winning architects of Chicago’s Riverwalk, will open up vistas and enhance sight lines. New and relocated display gardens, teeming with seasonally timed plantings, are complemented by soothing shade, optimally placed benches and meandering pathways, lighted at dusk.
The park remains open to its 400,000 yearly visitors during renovation, with a promise of renewed vitality that will preserve Cantigny for future generations.Edit Module
