Translate from Italian to English, and the name of this dynamic soon-to-be-opened eatery at 2155 City Gate Lane in Naperville (630 579-3210) is “That’s awesome.”
Chef Mark Grimes, who has been at the helm of more than 100 restaurants in his culinary career, brings the best of Italy to the table through a combination of authentic ingredients flown in from Italy and simple but creative preparation.
Vividly plated with eye-popping color, Che Figata’s seasonal fare includes house-crafted pastas, artisinal Roman-style pizzas and re-imagined rustic dishes from a wood-burning grill. Specialties include Carciofi fritti alla Romana — crispy fried artichokes with blackened citrus and herbed mascarpone dressing (pictured) — and Nduja Taierin — taglierini pasta, ‘nduja, San Marzano tomatoes, Cipollini, fava beans with pistachio pesto and Calabrian peppers. A chef’s counter adjacent to the dining room offers direct views into the open kitchen.
The 200-seat dining room flows onto an elegant outdoor patio where there is seating for 50 additional diners. And a Euro-style marketplace with fresh sauces, ready-made dishes and Italian wines, invites diners to take home a little piece of Italy.Edit Module
