Flavors from the islands of Hawaii have made their way to the Midwest at LemonShark Poké’s first Illinois location (there are 14 across the country), recently opened at 135 Danada Square East in Wheaton (630 634-2211).
Named after a breed of shark known for its discerning palate, LemonShark focuses on high-quality, locally sourced and sustainable ingredients to ensure the freshest final product. The restaurant’s mission of freshness can be found off the menu, too, in the modern, minimalist, refreshing interior décor. Along the walls are pour-your-own beer taps that serve a selection of local craft beers.
This fine-casual restaurant uses an assembly line ordering system made famous by chains like Subway and Chipotle, giving customers the opportunity to customize each Poké bowl any which way. The bowl starts with a rice base and is topped with a choice of 13 proteins — marinated fish, chicken or tofu options — as well as a selection of fresh vegetables and tropical fruits. Bowls are then garnished with a selection of sauces, from spicy ponzu to wasabi mayo.
Not sure where to start? The menu offers signature bowls that make all the decisions for you. Other Hawaiian staples, like spam masubi and katsu chicken, are menu favorites as well.Edit Module
