McMae’s on Main
Pot roast sliders and other tastes of home in downtown Glen Ellyn
The newly minted eatery at 411 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn (630 793-5422) builds on the success of McMae’s Tavern & Grill, its flagship bar at 913 S. Rte. 59 in Bartlett, says owner Greg McCaffrey.
The menus at both establishments are essentially the same. “We do American-style sandwiches plus salads and pasta. The emphasis is on fresh, homemade food.”
Filet medallion and pot roast sliders are popular, as are burgers with toppings like barbecue bacon or Swiss mushroom. There’s also a cheddar-stuffed burger.
Other entrée options to consider are Chicken Parmesan, slow-cooked ribs and homemade manicotti. The average meal cost is $12.
McMae’s on Main seats 95 customers and has an in-house private party space. A seasonal patio bumps up capacity by another 30.
“We’re probably equally admired as a restaurant and as a bar,” says McCaffrey. “We draw from a broad demographic, from customers aged 25 to 75.”
The venue is open at noon for lunch. It closes at midnight daily and at 1 a.m. on weekends.Edit Module
