Neighborhood comfort food in Oak Brook
Courtesy of Beatrix
A concept created by Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Beatrix is a sophisticated take on the popular wave of restaurants that blend neighborhood coffeehouse comfort with a chic dining experience. First in the west suburbs — there are three Chicago locations — Beatrix opens this February in Oak Brook at 272 Oakbrook Center (630 491-1415). The restaurant begins the day as an upscale breakfast stop and transitions seamlessly into lunch and dinner, with a specialty coffee menu as deep as the day is long. A pastry counter encourages quick-stop or take-home treats.
The menu aims for healthy-meets-delicious. Breakfast starts out with fresh-squeezed juices, including pure blueberry and “power green” options, then moves on to oatmeals, cereals, inventive egg dishes and avocado toast. On the lunch and dinner menus — devised for equal appeal to meat lovers, vegetarians and vegan diners — classic comfort foods like the warm pot roast sandwich, prime burgers or roasted chicken sit beside such energy-boosting options as the Supernatural Chopped Salad, the Turkey, Sweet Potato and Greens “Neatloaf,” or the Chili & Chocolate Glazed Salmon.
Offering weekend brunch, also served with a healthful twist, Beatrix is open daily, starting a 6 a.m. for an early morning cup of fresh-brewed joe.Edit Module
