Nicole Salerno, whose family owns 11 restaurants, including Salerno’s Pizza in Oak Park and Bolingbrook and Evviva! in Lisle, has poured her passion for wine into a new venture — R. Urban Wine Bar & Café, newly opened at 4738 Main St., in downtown Lisle (630 541-9766).
The curated wine list includes international varietals, champagnes and wine flights, served in a trendy and convivial atmosphere. Brick oven pizzas, freshly made and ready to eat in under two minutes, are the centerpiece of the menu. Red pizzas include favorites like margherita, spicy sausage diavolo, and a proscuitto, artichoke and mushroom-topped cappriciosa with proscuitto. Among the “Whites” are the Roman, starring eggplant and goat cheese, and the chicken and pesto Mediterranean. Build-your-own pizza is also an option, as are cauliflower and gluten-free crusts.
Also popular are the sharable butcher boards, featuring cheese imported from Italy, France and the Netherlands, and fresh charcuterie. Other quick bites are the bruschettas, including a brie and fig variety. Gourmet sandwiches — there’s a traditional Italian meatball option — are also on hand.
For dessert, choose from carrot, cannoli and chocolate lava cakes — or try all three by ordering a mini-cake trio.Edit Module
