A modern-day “roadside” burger & shake joint in Oak Brook
Fast food with New York CIty punch has moved into its sixth Chicago-area location at 1950 Spring Rd., in Oak Brook (630 413-1017). Starting out as a hot dog stand inside Madison Square Park, the one-stop-shop for burgers, shakes. custards and — surprise — beer and wine has spread across 25 states.
Laid back yet with speedy service, Shake Shack brings premium-quality versions of fast food classics. Angus beef burgers,100 percent all-natural, are served on a potato bun and topped as desired with lettuce, onion, tomato and pickle. Cage-free chicken comes hot and crispy, dressed with buttermilk herb mayo. And, of course, Vienna beef hotdogs — including the Shack-cago Dog — are accompanied by a slew of fresh-made relishes. And on the side? Shake Shack’s famed crinkle-cut fries — crispy, crunchy, salty and potato-y to the last bite. A big part of the menu is made up of shakes and frozen custards, spun fresh daily and with no artificial ingredients. The Shack Attack, for instance, is loaded with chocolate truffle cookie dough, fudge sauce and dark chocolate chunks.
Shackmeister Ale, brewed in collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery, leads off a selection of beers and wines by the glass.Edit Module
