Spotted Fox Ale House

Microbrews and American eats in St. Charles

T.R. Witom

The Spotted Fox Ale House 3615 E. Main St., St. Charles (630) 584-2239, is taking full advantage of the rising popularity of today’s microbrew beer culture, says owner Marwan Taib.

“We have a huge selection — some 30 beers on tap — and a full bar,” says Taib, whose 250-seat restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight. There’s a private-party room and seasonal patio.

The menu is contemporary American, and chef D.J. Malfitano’s hottest signature dish is Parmesan chicken. Eleven different burgers are available including the much-in-demand Fox Burger, featuring Angus beef and apple wood-smoked bacon, topped with a fried egg and accompanied by cheddar and fried shallot potato strings.

Expect to pay about $10 for a meal, excluding beverage.

Guests at The Spotted Fox sit at high-top tables and comfy u-shape booths. The sleek decor features bamboo accents on the walls, concrete and hardwood floors and, in the lounge, stainless steel and snake-print chairs.
