Cottage Hill Station
Family friendly eatery and sports bar in historic Elmhurst building
The recent opening of Cottage Hill Station at 122 S. York St., Elmhurst (630 279-3130) marked a new chapter for the 1843 building, says Zach Miller, general manager of the “family friendly restaurant and sports bar.” Over the years the historic structure, which once served as a stagecoach stop, inn and community gathering spot, has housed many businesses. The restaurant’s moniker, Miller says, pays homage to the original name of the area before it formally became Elmhurst in 1870.
Popular appetizers by Executive Chef Rick Campillo include traditional or boneless chicken wings and Gardiniere Hummus served as a dipping sauce for accompanying vegetables. Eight-ounce burgers come with various toppings, but a standout
is The Latino, prepared with queso, chorizo, guacamole and chipotle mayonnaise.
Miller says the hands-down favorite dish is “our fish tacos,” starring blackened mahi, cilantro, pico de gallo and sour cream.
The well-stocked bar dispenses specialty cocktails and beer on tap, bottled or canned.Edit Module
