Coom’s Corner Sports Grill
Burgers, brews and a ballgame at Cub broadcaster’s bar and grill in Lockport
Former 9-year major league ballplayer and current Chicago Cubs radio color analyst Ron Coomer has opened a neighborhood grill where sports fans can chow down on American favorites while watching the game on big screen TVs.
At Coom’s Corner Sports Grill, 1225 E. 9th St. in Lockport (815 838-4420) — the same community where Coomer played ball as a higher schooler — a variety of prime burgers are among the featured menu offerings. There’s a Hopped Stout Burger with crispy bacon and Tillamook cheddar, doused in stout-braised onions. The Hot Head features salsa and jalapeños, while the quinoa-based Garden Burger pleases the vegetarian palette. All are under $12 and come with the option of truffle fries. Square-cut Crispy Tavern Pizzas are house-made, as are the signature sandwiches and wraps. Entrées — all $18 or less — include short ribs with whipped potatoes and baby carrots; spaghetti & meatballs; and a BBQ salmon dish.
A beer menu offers pale ales, ciders and porters as well as seven craft brews on tap.
Coom’s Corner stays open until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends.
