Le Pain Quotidien
Belgian bakery and restaurant brings simple, nutritious fare to Naperville
Warm plaster walls and a communal table made from reclaimed wood create an atmosphere of rusticity and simplicity that is matched on the plate at Le Pain Quotidien.
The European bakery and café at 204 S. Washington St. in the heart of Naperville (331 215-5789) is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner — fresh and from scratch.
Here, “the daily bread” is handmade and organic, ranging from crispy baguettes to dark ryes. The café’s signature open-faced sandwiches — or tartines — include a whole wheat sourdough toast topped with avocado and smoked salmon. Salads center around organic ingredients, like the warm grain bowl that pairs quinoa and farro with roasted beets, kale, arugula, spiced pecans and fresh goat cheese.
Soups, quiches, frittatas and egg specialties round out the menu. For dessert there are hard-to-resist tarts, pastries, éclaires, donuts and cakes — all artisinal and preservative free.
The café seats 86, with 16 more on an outdoor patio.Edit Module
