A pure and simple love of Italy inspired Joe and Nicole di Braccio to create a venue for everyday Italian flavors and hospitality in west suburban Lisle. Caffe di Moda, located just north of the train station at 1012 Burlington Ave., turns all-natural ingredients into fast-casual, Italian-style street fare.
Open bright and early at 5 a.m., the cafe offers a full expresso bar serving Lavazza — Italy’s #1 coffee. Specialty toasts (think avocado or caprese), paninis and fresh-baked pastries make irresistible add-ons.
From lunchtime until 8 p.m., there’s a short but tempting list of hand-helds. Choose from the Palermo Piccante, a spicy salami with giodinera and fresh mozzarella; or the Roma Verdure, featuring artichoke hearts, peppers and greens.
All sandwiches are made with a choice of breads including panino, foccacia or piadino (Italian flatbread). Salads and sides include Insalata Toscana — a spring mix with pears, gorgonzola, walnuts and lemon oil, and Cauliflower Parmesan.
Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and low-carb dishes are always an option. As the seasons change, so do specialty items on the menu, as determined by the freshest produce options available.
