Wood-fired, Asia-inspired and quick-casual are just three of the ways this new eatery evokes the spirit of food cooked by Chinese street vendors. Located in the heart of Oak Brook Center, the restaurant is a mini escape from the bustle of the area’s premier shopping destination.
The authentic but modern décor features butcher-block tables, red-flamed pillars, white subway tiles and wooden elements from reclaimed Chinese ships. Yet it’s the aromas of spices and smoked meats that most clearly signal a genuine Asian experience. A wok menu, created by restaurateur Michael LaPidus — known for Q-BBQ in La Grange, Naperville and Oak Park — reinvents classics like Mongolian beef, Kung Pao and General Tso with wood-fired flank steak, flame-grilled chicken and brined pastrami. Inspired side dishes include charred cauliflower, Asian slaw, garlic-fried rice and even wood-fired green beans. At the butcher’s station, meats are prepped or sliced by hand then crafted into Asian short ribs, unique sandwiches like the Pastrami Orient melt, or The Butcher’s Noodles.
Located at 533 Oak Brook Center (630 382-0656), the restaurant includes a quaint cocktail bar with craft beers and a private patio area.Edit Module
