Modern American cuisine served with elegance in Lombard
Recently opened at 105 W. St. Charles Rd., in Lombard (630 376-4105), GroundLevel 105 promises a smartly casual dining experience with all the comforts of home.
The welcoming interior, with wood-lined walls as well as wooden floors and tables, is at once elegant and comfortable. A giant vintage photo of Lombard train station showcases the restaurant’s hometown pride.
The menu suggests familiar American fare, with appetizers that include crab cakes and Macaroni & Cheese Nips. Other, elevated selections include lamb lollipops and lobster nachos zested with lime essence. A creative mix of salads includes one that combines roasted, pickled and raw cauliflower with apples, pecans and shreds of aged cheddar.
On to mains, priced from $14 – $22, guests may choose a hearty andouille sausage and Gulf shrimp gumbo, Skuna Bay salmon, a rib-eye rubbed with sun-dried tomato butter or the wok-tossed Orient Fettuccine, among other entrées. Sides include sauteed spinach, smashed sweet potato and cornbread.
For those with a yen for something sweet, the dessert menu offers chocolate molten cake and carrot cake, plus fresh fruit, sorbets and gelato.Edit Module
