Two Hound Red
Elevated bar fare and craft brews in downtown Glen Ellyn
Microbrews and pub-inspired eats are expected to be a winning combination at Glen Ellyn’s newly opened brewery and bar, located at 486 Pennsylvania Ave. in Glen Ellyn (630 547-2912).
Formerly occupied by Schmid Pharmacy, the space has been transformed into an upscale-casual bar that features exposed wood beams, red bar stools, large windows that invite the outside in, and seating in comfortable black booths, at wooden tables and benches, or, for larger groups, a long party table. The brewery’s distinctive red logo is wrapped around silver kegs of Two Hound Red craft beer, which is brewed on site. A pale ale with apricot and citrus and a dark “oaty” stout are just two of the beer offerings, along with handcrafted cocktails.
The Brussels sprouts chips, cheese curds and hummus are among the made-to-share appetizers. An early menu favorite is the pulled pork sandwich, made with smoked pulled pork, chipotle ranch slaw, bbq sauce and house pickles. Other bar staples are the spicy bbq wings and a full selection of burgers, served with pickles hand-cut fries or house-made potato chips.
Two Hound Red is open daily for dinner and Wed – Sun for lunch. The bar stays open until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
