The Graceful Ordinary

Combining a contemporary upscale ambiance with refined-rustic, tavern-inspired fare, The Graceful Ordinary is the newest addition to downtown St. Charles’ flourishing waterfront entertainment district.

The 4,700-sq-ft interior includes a full dining room featuring a chefs’ table and a view of the open kitchen and wood-burning brick hearth, an expansive bar and lounge area, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the picturesque Fox River.

Located at 1 E. Main St. (331 235 5803) in the former BMO Harris Bank building, the restaurant has indoor seating for 120 and an additional 110 outside.

The menu boasts a range of offerings from light bites like gourmet cheeses, charcuterie and shareable small plates, to a selection of hearty, comforting entrées such as octopus carpaccio, shrimp and grits, and wood-roasted, dry-aged strip steak.

The bar features a variety of craft cocktails, a broad list of new and old-world wines, and a selection of crafts beers from local breweries.

Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday until 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday until midnight.
