With a 12-story tower serving as the apex of an extensive aerial adventure course that includes four over-water ziplines, The Forge: Lemont Quarries recently opened in Lemont.
The 300-acre outdoor adventure park also offers mountain biking skills courses and pump tracks; flatwater paddlesports including kayaking, canoeing and pedal boats; a dedicated kids’ area; a bouldering zone; and five miles of running, biking and walking trails, as well as food service, a beer garden and amphitheater for concerts.
The Forge provides a wide range of activities for would-be adventurers of all ages and skill sets. Visitors can purchase all-access day passes or individual activity passes for paddlesports, mountain biking, the kids zone or tactical laser tag and AR adventure games, ranging from $15 to $70.
The Forge is also currently offering special Founding Member Annual Memberships, for a limited time, featuring unlimited access to all activities in the park, special discounts and members-only benefits for adults, youth and families, starting at $185 per person.
Those who work up an appetite while at the park can stop at The Foundry — the main gathering area situated in the heart of the park. Featuring outdoor seating for 150 guests, The Foundry is an on-the-go market with a variety of healthy food options. The open-air concept serves a full line-up of beverages including On The Ropes, an exclusive craft beer created in collaboration with Lemont’s own Pollyanna Brewery.
The Forge also plans to offer Forgefire Adventure Dining, an outdoor dining experience overlooking The Forge Quarry on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October.
In coming years, The Mount, the Forge’s 1,000+ person amphitheater, is scheduled to host concerts, music and film festivals and other special events.
While hours will change seasonally, the Forge is currently open Thursdays, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Fridays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays the park is available for booking private events.
“It’s been incredibly rewarding to build a completely original and unique adventure park right in my own backyard,” says Co-Founder Jeremie Bacon, a tech entrepreneur who has completed 20 ultramarathons, 30 marathons, and two adventure races. “As a resident of Lemont, I truly appreciate the historical significance of this area, and our team is dedicated to preserving, restoring and conserving the natural landscape while providing a very special, memorable visit for our guests.”
As a public-private enterprise with the Village of Lemont and Lemont Township, The Forge will also be providing a range of educational and volunteer opportunities dedicated to the restoration and beautification of the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area. The Forge has plans to host field trips, team development programs, instruction and certification sessions.
To ensure the well-being of guests and team members, The Forge will be implementing measures in accordance with the best practices and safety guidelines adopted by the outdoor recreation industry as well as guidelines presented by the state of Illinois and CDC. In addition, reservations must be made for all activities, to ensure physical distancing can take place throughout the park. For more information, go to www.forgeparks.com.
